In at No 3 on the BBC Sound of 2014 poll is 25-year-old songwriter and soul-chanteuse from LA, BANKS.

Now London-based, the singer is known for her smoky vocals and minimal, polished beats, as well as eschewing social media: BANKS famously gave out her actual phone number on Facebook (the number's 323-362-2658 if you fancied a quick chat).

Last year saw the release of her LONDON EP (clearly a fan of Caps Lock or casual shouting), which secured her a spot supporting The Weeknd at the O2, and included the rain-beaten single This Is What It Feels Like, produced by Lil Silva and Jamie Woon. This year will see the release of her debut album.
