After a fallow year in 2026, Glastonbury festival fans can start to get excited – and nervous – about tickets for 2027’s event going on sale.
The price breaks £400 for the first time, at £408 including a £5 booking fee, a rise from the 2025 cost of £378.50. The usual scramble to acquire them – with all the attendant frantic spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups – will begin at 9am on Sunday 4 October.
To encourage festival-goers to take more environmentally sound coaches rather than cars, tickets bundled with coach travel go on sale earlier, at 6pm on Thursday 1 October.
Harry Styles is already much rumoured to be headlining, with the likes of Taylor Swift, Fontaines DC, Sabrina Carpenter and Fred Again among others mooted by the bookies.
Organiser Emily Eavis scotched rumours that Madonna would play, saying: “No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that. But we have got three [other] headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.”
In 2025, the festival was headlined by the 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, with the latter described as “the weekend’s best big set” in a five-star Guardian review.
There were also secret sets from Pulp, Skepta, Haim and more, and acclaimed turns from Doechii, Alanis Morissette and others. But there was controversy around Kneecap’s appearance at the festival, as well as the act that preceded them: Bob Vylan, who led a chant of “death to the IDF”. Then-BBC director general, Tim Davie, said “I deeply regret that such offensive and deplorable behaviour appeared on the BBC,” and the furore led to an internal investigation.
Since that previous edition, Eavis’s father, Michael, who founded the festival in 1970, has turned 90. Speaking to the BBC in October, he said: “It’s all been a long story of excitement. That’s probably what’s keeping me going.”
He added: “I was always at war with the council and the village and the local magistrates and the police”, as he turned the festival from a gathering on his Somerset dairy farm into arguably the world’s greatest music festival. “And it came good. Which is extraordinary, really. The fight was really what made it work, there’s no doubt about that. It was certainly worth it.”
The 2027 festival takes place between June 23-27. Anyone wanting to buy a ticket must register with the festival by 5pm BST on Friday 25 September. Tickets can be paid for in full or with a £100 deposit, with the rest paid off in the first week of April. Under-13s attend for free.
