Four years after BBC 6 Music’s future seemed to be in jeopardy, the station has celebrated its inaugural festival; a two-day indoor event bereft of portable loos and mud, rich in Craig Charles and Steve Lamacq spottings and full of a plethora of music’s most alternative tones. Spreading the performances over two stages at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, the event saw the likes of Kelis and her brass-sectioned soul, Mercury prize winner James Blake, the sweat-soaked Drenge and the National, performing with all their triumphant revery.
