Absolute Radio will mark its first birthday with an exclusive Madness concert in London's Regent Street.

The band – fronted by Suggs, who was a DJ on Absolute Radio's former incarnation, Virgin Radio – will play during the 10th Regent Street festival on Sunday 27 September.

Tickets for the gig are being given away to Absolute listeners in an on-air text competition. This year the band celebrates its 30th birthday.

Absolute is based around the corner from Regent Street in Golden Square in Soho, and its DJs including breakfast presenter Christian O'Connell and drivetime host Geoff Lloyd will take part in the "rock'n'roll birthday bash". The day will raise money for Cancer Support UK.

Absolute Radio changed its name on 29 September last year after it was bought from SMG, a division of the Times of India Group, for £53.2m. It had an average weekly reach of 1.69 million listeners in the second quarter of this year, according to the latest official Rajar listening figures.

The gig will be broadcast as part of a special Absolute Radio birthday programme at 6pm on 27 September.
