Each week we invite a reader to share a playlist they've been listening to recently. This week it's Kieron Casey, who currently hosts a show on local community radio where he plays "the latest independent music and foreign-language pop". The show is broadcast at 6.30pm on Wednesday evenings on Bradford's BCB Radio.
Girl's Generation – The Boys
Girl's Generation, having already conquered Asia, are currently taking first steps to cracking the west with their latest single The Boys. Eschewing the standard four-member lineup of typical girl groups, Korea's finest boast nine impeccably groomed, perfectly pitched and exquisitely choreographed young ladies who deal exclusively in hypnotically catchy numbers. Less a band, more a force of nature.
Dolphins – Caved In
Dolphins' debut is a bombastic, sonic assault as guttural as anything that's likely to be released this year. Earplugs recommended for live performances.
Bruce Springsteen – Wrecking Ball
After the optimism of Working On A Dream, The Boss returns with his most stinging, visceral, emotive work since Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Wrecking Ball showcases Bruce as a cerebral, frustrated idealist refusing to become jaded by the inevitable disappointments of the American Dream once more.
T-Ara (with Davichi) – We Were in Love
A sassy K-Pop delight which combines lilting, melancholy melodies with biting rap interludes to craft effortlessly cool, sultry R'n'B perfection.
Blood Red Shoes – Cold
Taken from their forthcoming third album (In Time to Voices), Cold is a mesmerising slice of melodically and rhythmically astounding pop that Blood Red Shoes have made their name from crafting.
Teresa Teng – Goodbye My Love
Teng's voice has been described as "seven parts sweetness, three parts tears". This live performance immaculately highlights her precarious balance between existential pain and stoic resilience which made her such a captivating performer.
Cap'n Jazz – Little League
Ferocious, frail, loud, tender, passionate, fervent, sorrowful. Overwhelmingly powerful.
