With Glastonbury 2013 just a few days away, the forecast is holding. Despite a few showers in Somerset this weekend, it looks as though the festival will be warm, sunny and mostly dry, with the biggest risk of rain on Thursday.
First off: mud. Earlier this month, meteorologists were very nervous about the leadup to Glasto, predicting rain – and rain-soaked ground – in the days before Wednesday's festival start. Thankfully, none of that came true. Friday and Saturday's showers mostly missed the festival site, according to Netweather's Glasto wonk, Jackone, and now almost everyone's saying the worst is already over: apart from the chance of a shower on Tuesday, the sun will be shining on Worthy Farm between now and Wednesday.
Once the festival begins, BBC Weather is predicting an overall mix of sun and cloud, and for skies to be a little more overcast at the weekend. Daytime temperatures will start in the high teens and rise as high as 24C on Sunday. While Jackone warns of "patchy rain" on Thursday, the Met Office only puts the chance of precipitation at 20%. Unsurprisingly, the days with the most "unsettled" weather are the ones furthest away: although there's the prospect of "a very decent weekend", Jackone wrote, there could still be surprises. "Bring those hired wellies and a brolly just in case."
