“Where’s Ja [Rule]?”
Backing former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, of course.
While comedian Dave Chappelle once joked about Ja Rule playing political pundit, the routine hasn’t stopped the New York-based rapper from weighing in on the 2016 presidential race.
In an appearance on Fox Business, the rapper despised by critics but beloved by millennials said: “I like Hillary. I like Hillary. But, you know, it’s crazy because … I also think Jeb is a good candidate as well.”
Ja Rule added: “But, you know, I don’t – I’m a Democrat, so yeah, so I would vote Hillary.”
The Clinton campaign did not immediately respond to request for comment on the endorsement. However, in a tweet, a Clinton operative directed the Guardian to Ja Rule’s team. They did not respond to a request for comment either.
@Bencjacobs @adamslily @JoshSchwerin @IanSams I'd refer you to Ja's team on that one

It is unlikely that the Clinton campaign will use the rapper as a surrogate. After all, the rapper has faced a variety of legal issues in the past decade, including convictions for tax evasion and gun possession. However, if he does hit the campaign trail for the Democratic presidential hopeful, Ja Rule will bring one advantage besides his celebrity: unlike one other surrogate for Hillary Clinton, the notoriously tardy former president Bill Clinton, Ja Rule is “always on time”.
