Tell us about who you are, where you are from, and what you do.

We are a six piece Indigenous band from the Tiwi Islands. We write and sing about issues facing Indigenous and non-Indigenous people such as drug and alcohol abuse, depression and suicide.

We write our songs based on life growing up in our community and the issues we have faced personally and seen first-hand.

What do you plan to focus on during your week as host of @IndigenousX?

Spreading our positive messages and encouraging a positive change. We will also give an insight into our daily lives and culture.

What issues are you most passionate about and why?

The youth of the future. We can never win the war on drugs and alcohol but we can start reducing the demand through educating the future generations and encouraging them to stay out of the cycle. We always use music as a tool to get the message across.

Who are your role models, and why?

We admire the late Mr. Yunupingu (lead singer of Yothu Yindi). He had a perfect balance of both worlds (Indigenous and western cultures). Gurrumul Yunupingu has also been an inspiration to the whole band.

What are your hopes for the future?

To make a positive impact wherever we go, for as long as we can.
