From Stella McCartney's androgynous dress-down look to Rihanna's tracksuit, via mag editors' off-duty chic, here's an anatomy of grey's recent appearances in the fashion pages
Sarah Harris, Vogue's fashion features director, is a long-term grey devotee who owns 'about 45' heather-coloured T-shirts, has silky, naturally grey hair and a light-grey-painted house (Farrow & Ball's Cornforth White, to be precise). 'Grey is such a nice antidote to peacocking, which has taken hold for the past five years,' she says. 'Reverting to grey is a bit of a reaction to that.' Wearing them, he says, 'I look like I've been dipped in grey paint.' In the picture, he wears his second-favourite trainers, a pair of Nike Air Max 90s. He describes his style as 'like a Pantone reference … It’s functional but it also gives me a distinct look without having to try too hard.'
